4 Ways To Reduce Stress During Pregnancy

Updated: Jul 12, 2020

Mommy… I am hungry! Mommy, I want to eat…! Mommy, do you hear me? Mooooommmmyyyyy! Yes honey… I'll make you something in a minute. Mommy's tired! This is a common scenario with mothers who are pregnant, sore, under supported, and stressed. Mothers who do their best to stay strong even when the whole world is falling apart daily… literally! Mothers who help with homework, make family meals, run her own business, and reads her children their favorite bedtime story (for the millionth time), all while carrying a professional black belt, karate kid in her stomach. Times like these are hard, tension is high, and stress while pregnant can sometimes be inevitable. So, what can you do when you are feeling stressed out during pregnancy? Continue reading for my 4 practical ways to reduce your stress. Before I get into the solution, let me tell you why reducing your stress is very important as a Prego mama:

1} Stress Has A Negative Affect On Your Body

-Low energy

-Upset stomach, diarrhea, constipation, etc.

-Aches, pains, & tense muscles

-Frequent Colds & infection -Loss of sexual desire

2} Excessive Stress Can Also Cause Negative Affects On Your Emotions

-Become easily aggravated and moody

-Feeling overwhelmed

-Feeling bad about yourself(low self-esteem), lonely, worthless, and depressed

-Avoiding others

3) Excessive Stress Can Negatively Affect Your Baby

-High levels of stress that continue for a long time may cause health problems like high blood pressure and heart disease. Stress also increases the chances of having a premature or low birth weight baby.

So, mama this is serious stuff. Stress can be dangerous. As your pregnancy Bestie, let me share the details on how to reduce your stress during pregnancy.

1)Practice Deep Breathing Techniques And Meditation

Girlfriend, this right here is everything! When you are feeling like the whole world is collapsing all around you, just take a deep breath in... count to 5... and release it. Do this several times throughout your day and watch your stress leave your body with every exhale. Allow yourself to let go of every care, knowing that your world won't fall apart if you don't do everything on your 20 point checklist today. Sis, forget about it and focus on you. If you can… get a meditation pillow and start taking 5 to 10 minutes a day to just meditate on your emotions, your feelings, and positive expectations of your pregnancy. You'll thank me later for this 😉.

2) Get Plenty Of Rest/Exercise

When tension is high and you feel like you're ready to explode, it maybe time to take a quick nap. Girl, I am the queen of power naps. Around 1 PM on most days, my body just says "I am done". So is the person who respects her body... I sleep!. It doesn't mean you're lazy… it means you love your baby enough to give him/her what he/she needs in the moment. Rest! Also, it's important to exercise daily to help reduce stress and gain strength… you'll definitely need it later in your pregnancy. Check out some of these pregnancy exercises below…
